Luncheon Meeting Topic:  "The Bird Street Murders"
Westminster Fortune Teller Homicide

On April 22, 2005, Westminster Police Officers responded to a welfare check and found the bodies of a mother and daughter brutally stabbed to death in their home. Both victims were found with white paint poured over their head and hands. The mother was a well-known fortune teller in the local Vietnamese community and had out of state clients visiting her home at the time of her murder. The investigation ultimately led to the arrest and conviction of two suspects from the State of North Carolina. The suspects in this case were Tanya Jaime Nelson and Philippe Zamora. The prosecutor, OC Senior Homicide Deputy DA Sonia Balleste, will present aspects of the investigation and physical evidence that led to the conviction of the two defendants.
