The Contemporary Arts Center’s 21st Annual Juried Show
GUIDELINES:
The Contemporary Arts Center of Las Vegas is accepting submissions for our Annual Juried Show. As we move into our 21st year as a non-profit contemporary arts organization we are for the first time accepting digital entries. Our goal is to accommodate a larger spectrum of entries at the gallery. Due to the enthusiastic response in years’ past, the gallery can no longer accommodate the high volume of physical work during the jury process. Accepting digital media will also encourage trans-disciplinary artists to expand their potential entries for jury consideration. This year also marks the first national call for entries to the juried exhibition, as we broaden the scope of the work and support our mission to “connect with fellow artists within and beyond our own community.” We look forward to your submissions!

In 1993 he moved to Brooklyn, New York where he resided through 2007. Upon moving there, he began working towards his MFA in painting at Pratt Institute until 1996, which was later completed in 2007.
In 1999 he received the Louis Comfort Tiffany Foundation award, and in 2000 his work was included in the first Greater New York exhibition at PS1. Beginning in 2000, his work was represented by Sikkema Jenkins & Co., New York, wherein he had his first solo exhibition in 2001. Since that time, Jeff has had two additional exhibitions with them. In 2005 his paintings, along with an installation, were included in Painting the Edge, a survey of contemporary painting at Gallery Hyundai in Seoul Korea. In 2006, Jeff’s paintings and an installation were featured in the group exhibition, Still Missing: Beauty Absent Social Life, at the Visual Arts Museum in New York. During the same year, he also had his first solo exhibition at Inman Gallery in Houston, TX, which incorporated the gallery’s architectural space into a large-scale installation, which including paintings, drawings, sculptural elements and video. In the autumn of 2007, Jeff was the Artist in Residence at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, where he installed another large-scale installation for the Artist-In-Residence Biennial Exhibition at Ewing Gallery. In late 2008, Jeff moved to Los Angeles where he has been balancing his time completing an ambitious new body of work, along with teaching art classes. In 2009, Jeff was awarded the Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant.
Jeff’s work has been positively reviewed by Roberta Smith, of The New York Times, Jerry Saltz, of New York Magazine, and Andrea Scott, of The New Yorker, amongst others.
